Making Wolf River rig
Here is the story of the Wolf River Rig. I grew up fishing the rig as a kid using a typical rig tipped with a minnow. One of the best ways I found to catch fish was to through out the rig and reel it back in. As years past and we tried out different version of the rig.
The typical rig is a size 4 hook with a 1 oz sinker. The leader for the hook is 36 inches and the sinker leader is 18 inches. To change it up we add a red bead to the rig
The cold river rig is the same rig except switch the hook and sinker around. We like to fish this rig early spring when the water temp is below 50 degrees.
My favorite rig of all of the Wolf river fishing guide rig. This one pay attention to. Off of the 3 way swivel we use a 6 inch leader to the 3/8 oz sinker. Going to the hook or streamer fly. We will make the leader 5 feet long. The trick to this rig is using braided line on the reel. The braided line will help you feel the fish when they pick up the bait.
Give this a try and let me know how you did.
